LIFE’s A WAVE CATCH IT
With every person comes a story and the threads of experience that create our lives as we know it. This is my story…
In June, 2013, I tragically lost my partner, Jamie, to a car accident. In the months following, my sister-in-law asked me to join her, along with my Mom, at a SUP clinic. After some persuasion I decided to join her. The moment my board touched the water and I stood up I felt at peace, connected and alive. The feelings of grief slowly washed away as I paddled into the horizon. I got off the water feeling like I had just been in therapy for an hour!
Needless to say, I was hooked, and shortly after, purchased my first SUP star board. The picture of the TIKi man on the end reminded me of my husband and he watches out for me every ride. Whenever a wave of grief was crashing down on me, I grabbed my paddle and board and headed down to the water. It has helped me in countless ways to cope with this experience I faced.

I share this story with the hope that it leaves you feeling inspired and you sense the pure magic of stand up paddle boarding. That feeling of gliding through the water free as a bird. From this dark tragedy, came light, inspiration and a fresh perspective on life! This experience was the motivation for starting South Surf. I want to share my passion for stand up paddle boarding with anyone and everyone!!
My personal goal is to help my fellow SUPers have a great workout while connecting with themselves and nature. Trust me when I say that SUPing is cheaper than therapy! So come and check us out, go for a paddle and let your soul be free!
