As some know, my partner and father to my daughter, Jamie, died tragically in a car accident. My world was turned upside down and I no longer recognized the woman I saw staring back at me in the mirror. My sister in law asked me to join her at the water for stand up paddle boarding classes. I could barely breathe let alone stand on some board in the water. After some persuading I finally agreed to join her.

The moment I stood up on my board and paddled out into the horizon I felt at ease, strong, alive and free from all the darkness that comes with grief. I encourage everyone to find their place on the water, whether it be the ocean or a pond to sit, swim, and be on, to help you heal, restore your strength, and connect with nature. Paddle boarding has helped me in countless ways.. I hope you can all find your place on the water to do the same.
